Workflow Director Enables Company to Leverage Its Infrastructure Investments

San Diego, CA – July 24, 2009 – BP Logix, a provider of web-based business process automation and reporting solutions, today announced that Liquid Controls, a subsidiary of IDEX Corporation, has acquired BP Logix Workflow Director to improve its business processes. As part of an initiative to better leverage its infrastructure investments, Liquid Controls selected Workflow Director to create the workflows and forms required to support business users across Accounting, Quality Assurance, IT, and HR departments.

IDEX Corporation (NYSE:IEX) manufactures and markets a wide array of engineered pumps and other industrial products and is the world leader in fluid-handling technologies. IDEX's business units are organized into four groups: Fluid & Metering Technologies, Health & Science Technologies, Dispensing Equipment and Fire & Safety/Diversified Products. Liquid Controls, a part of IDEX Fluid & Metering Technologies Group, has been an industry leader in flow measurement and process control instrumentation for 50 years. Dedicated to providing high quality flow meters and accessories for accurate liquid measurement in both custody transfer and process control applications, the company serves a variety of industries from Adhesives, Agriculture, Asphalt, Animal Feeds and Beverages to Cosmetics, Paints, Pharmaceuticals, Printing Inks and Textiles.

Liquid Controls (LC) provides a company intranet that employee’s access for forms and information including policies and procedures, capital expenditure, payroll authorization, vacation requests and expense forms. Previously, however, the company did not incorporate workflows that could address business processes reflected by those forms. Employees were further challenged by wanting, and not being able, to make changes to the documents to reflect changing business processes. As a result, employees often became frustrated.

Bruce Lawrence is the Group Network Manger for Liquid Controls and is responsible for the IT needs of employees at five companies – from Sampi in Italy to Toptech in Belgium and Corken in Oklahoma City. Identifying that he needed to select a system that would: 1) Work the way LC employees worked, 2) Provide version control, 3) Not require extensive backend development, 4) Be easy and quick to deploy and 5) Be easy to rewrite or change as the processes themselves changed.

After an intensive 3-month evaluation process that involved feedback from its business users and an evaluation of competitive workflow management and BPM offerings, Liquid Controls selected BP Logix Workflow Director to manage its business processes.

“What we like best about Workflow Director is being able to develop the user-requested workflows Liquid Controls requires. The fact that Workflow Director offers familiar screens, simple integration with our infrastructure (email systems, portal, file systems, scanners) and is web-based speaks volumes,” commented Lawrence. With 600 work constructions to build flow meters, for example, making changes to them now is done through a workflow. “We have already discovered that Workflow Director’s business logic lets us go as deep as we need to be consistent with our business process. With auditors, in particular, this has made our lives a lot easier,” remarked Lawrence.

“At Liquid Controls, achieving operational efficiency and productivity is important,” commented Edward Skiko, CEO of BP Logix. “Workflow Director enables the IT department to provide customized applications for its business users, without having to be a development shop. And with Workflow Director in place, auditors can quickly access the information they need as well,” concluded Skiko.
