Even in the highly structured processes that exist as part of the daily life of the organization, varied outcomes emerge as a result of the interplay between the many and varied collaborations. These outcomes are co-created by all of the human beings who participate in these collaborations.
Managers tend to put in place ‘structures’ to control the way work is executed and try to transform collaboration into rigid processes. This is contrary to the way people in companies want to work, but managers are fearful that “organized” anarchy may erupt.
Today it is possible to empower people whilst continuing to monitor what they are doing, letting people collaborate together and decide which is the best way to achieve an outcome.
